After a substantial investment in research, Sumitomo Chemical presented the microbiological nematicide Aveo during the 38th Brazilian Congress of Nematology (CBN 2023).
The company had a stand at the event to present the differential of this product, which is its exclusive strain Bacillus Amyloliquefaciens strain PTA-4838. According to the manufacturer, Aveo promotes ″safety, high efficacy and a phytotonic effect (greater root volume and weight, increased biomass and better initial plant start-up)″. The product treats seeds in the on-farm system for soybeans, combating the main damaging nematodes. Furthermore, Sumitomo Chemical stated that this microbiological solution also gave the plant stronger growth.
Aveo is a BioRacional, or biological products or products of natural origin that act in terms of protection and productivity or the best production quality. Seed Treatment Manager (TS) and leader in corn cultivation at Sumitomo Chemical, Roger Sassaki explained that the solution will fully serve the farmer for the next harvest. ″Mato Grosso is the largest grain-producing state in Brazil, where there is the greatest demand and use of solutions against nematodes,″ he stated. Aveo is part of the Seed Protection platform, formed by a complete portfolio of sustainable solutions for seed treatment, pest, and disease control, which also increased grain productivity.
Seed Protection comprises, in addition to the Aveo nematicide, the Maestro FS insecticide, Inside FS insecticide, Apron fungicide, and MycoApply EndoFuse and MycoApply EndoMaxx, solutions to optimize soil fertilization, promoting greater longevity, health and sustainability.
One of the attractions at Sumitomo Chemical's booth at CBN 2023 was a virtual reality technology platform equipped with goggles and joysticks. It is possible to get closer to the root of the plant to manage it digitally.
″With the equipment, it is possible to cut the root, zoom in or out of the image, and observe the mycorrhizae and the root system in detail,″ Sassaki explained. ″It is innovative and patented by Sumitomo Chemical. It will present visitors with a surreal experience, being able to enter the ground and observe the roots. This equipment will be used to train sales teams, technicians, and researchers,″ he stressed.
The Brazilian Nematology Congress 2023 has the theme ″Nematology for the Future: Sustainability and Technology″. It is promoted by the Brazilian Society of Nematology and carried out by the Mato Grosso Regional Nematology Study Group (Gren-MT).
