Stockton Group to introduce a new generation bio-fungicides

Biomor, member of the Stockton Group - a global supplier of high quality,  innovative eco-friendly crop protection solutions, was pleased to host 4 High Officials from the Presidential Initiative on Banana Development of Uganda, who came to learn more about Timorex Gold®. Timorex Gold® is Stocktons new generation innovative fungicide that has a unique multidimensional control for Black Sigatoka in the Banana crop, showing exceptional performance in the most intense disease pressure conditions.

These delegates came to study all about the banana aspects in order to set a program for improving the banana cultivation in Uganda. Banana is one of the most important food and cash crops in Uganda and is grown by almost every farmer.  One of the national main dishes of Uganda is the matooké (which means food), a meal consisting of steamed green banana.  In Uganda, if you held a feast and you didn’t serve bananas, your guest would then probably say that you didn’t serve “food”.

Unfortunately, Uganda suffers from the Black sigatoka, a disease which poses the highest danger to the matooké.  Timorex Gold® addresses the banana industry with a unique opportunity of a safe, better and more efficient control of Black sigatoka.  

The  Black sigatoka is a leaf spot disease and is considered one of the most damaging and costly banana diseases caused by the Mycosphaerella fijiensis fungus. Banana plants damaged by Black sigatoka yield up to 50% less fruit; control of the fungus accounts for up to 30% of total banana production costs worldwide.
