The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) has proposed to approve DuPont & Syngenta’s new fungicide oxathiapiprolin. APVMA will accept comments on this proposal before December 30th, 2015.
Oxathiapiprolin, comes from piperidinyl thiazole isoxazoline class of fungicides, is a new fungicide with novel mode of action which developed by DuPont. Syngenta has obtained a global license from DuPont to develop products containing oxathiapiprolin in 2013 and plans to market it under brand name Orondis™. Syngenta expected the potential sales value of oxathiapiprolin will exceed $300 million.
By now, DuPont has received registration approvals of oxathiapiprolin (trade-marked as Zorvec™) from USA and New Zealand, and will receive approval from Canada later. Syngenta’s oxathiapiprolin-based Orondis® fungicide has obtained registration from USA in September.
DuPont Crop Protection plans on launching Zorvec™ disease control in several countries including Mexico, China, and Australia later this year.
