The ISO Technical Committee on Common Names for Pesticides has provisionally approved ten new active ingredient common names recently, according to the Compendium of Pesticide Common Names (CPCN). They are heptafluthrin, oxathiapiprolin, pyriminostrobin, rescalure, coumoxystrobin, enoxastrobin, fenaminstrobin, flufenoxystrobin, pyrisoxazole and triclopyricarb. Eight of the new active ingredients (ais) are from Chinese companies and six of which from Shenyang Research Institute of Chemical Industry (SRICI). The ten ais include six fungicides, one acaricide, one insecticide, one fungicide/ acaricide and one attractant.
Flufenoxystrobin, coumoxystrobin and enoxastrobin belong to methoxyacrylate strobilurin from SRICI. Flufenoxystrobin is a fungicide/acaricide, being developed under the code name, SYP-3759, the name “fujunmanzhi” (氟菌螨酯) is approved in China. coumoxystrobin is being developed under the code name, SYP-3375, and the name "dingxiangjunzhi” (丁香菌酯) is used in China. enoxastrobin is being developed under the code name, SYP-Z071, and the name “enestroburin” (烯肟菌酯) is approved in China, and the name “xiwojunzhi” has also been used.
Fenaminstrobin (development code: SYP-1620) is a methoxyiminoacetamide strobilurin fungicide from SRICI, the name “xiwojunan” (烯肟菌胺) is used in China. Pyrisoxazole (SYP-48) is a fungicide containing oxazole and pyridine rings, it also called “dingjunezuo” (啶菌噁唑) in China. Triclopyricarb (SYP-7017) is a methoxycarbanilate strobilurin fungicide and called “lvdingjunzhi” (氯啶菌酯) in China.
The other two ais from Chinese companies are heptafluthrin, a pyrethroid ester insecticide from Youth Chemical Co. and pyriminostrobin (SYP-11277), a methoxyacrylate strobilurin acaricide from Shenyang Sciencreat Chemicals Co. Pyriminostrobin is also called “mimanan” (嘧螨胺) in China.
Oxathiapiprolin is a fungicide containing oxazole, pyrazole and thiazole rings from DuPont, being developed under code DPX-QGU42. Ecologia y Proteccion Agricola’s rescalure is an attractant for red scale (Aonidiella aurantii).
