The European Commission has amended the approval conditions for two biopesticides. They are biopesticide Cydia pomonella Granulovirus (CpGV) and attractant Straight Chain Lepidopteran Pheromones. Both proposals have been voted through by the EU Standing Committee on the Food Chain and Animal Health.
For CpGV, EU proposes to amend the minimum purity of CpGV and the nature and maximum content of certain impurities, according to the new guidance on microbial contaminant limits for microbial plant protection products. For Straight Chain Lepidopteran Pheromones, further confirmatory information is required, which includes the genotoxic profile of aldehyde group compounds, and exposure of humans and the environment resulting from the different ways of application of Straight Chain Lepidopteran Pheromones.
The change for CpGV will enter into force in September, while the amendment for Straight Chain Lepidopteran Pheromones will be effective after its official publication in European Union Journal.
