Bayer CropScience launches Prosper EverGol in Canada
Date:04-24-2012
Growers can reap the rewards of using Prosper® EverGol
TM, a newly formulated, ready-to-use flowable systemic seed treatment for canola and mustard. Newly registered, it is the latest innovation in seed treatment for canola and mustard that offers an increased level of protection, increased yield and improved germination and vigour, while maintaining all of the benefits of Prosper FX.
"Prosper EverGol can protect against the most damaging range of diseases and insects to canola crops,” says Roger Rotariu, Manager, Oilseed Crops Fungicides, Insecticides and Seed Treatments, Bayer CropScience. “Along with seed-borne diseases, it can protect canola from flea beetles up to the four-leaf stage, from seed rot, seedling blight, damping off and early season rot caused by disease organisms, such as Pythium, Rhizoctonia and Fusarium.”
Prosper EverGol is a new formulation that maintains all of the benefits of the leading Bayer CropScience product, Prosper FX. Like Prosper FX, it uses four distinct chemistries to help develop healthy roots and strong stand establishment – which ultimately leads to higher yields.
In addition to the highly effective insecticide clothianidin, Prosper EverGol contains three fungicidal active ingredients – metalaxyl, trifloxystrobin and penflufen. Penflufen, a powerful Group 7 fungicide that has demonstrated outstanding control of Rhizoctonia solani, replaces the carbathiin used in the Prosper FX formulation. As a testament to its efficacy, penflufen represents the first fungicidal active from Bayer CropScience specifically engineered for use in seed treatments only.
The registration of penflufen (brand name EverGol) in Canada represents the first regulatory approval worldwide for the new fungicidal seed treatment solution (
AgroNews 2012-04-23). Products from the EverGol/Emesto family are expected to be granted approval in more than 40 countries within the European Union and beyond, and in particular in the growing markets for seed treatment agents in Latin America and Asia.
Prosper EverGol will be transitioned onto InVigor® seed sold through farm supply retailers across Canada beginning for the 2013 season. Look for InVigor seed treated with Prosper EverGol to be grown in Demonstration Strip Trials across Western Canada in 2012.
