Chinese agrochemical company Zhejiang Zhongshan Chemical Industry Group's subsidiary, Inner Mongolia Zhonggao Chemical (Zhonggao Chemical), has recently announced that its 3,000-ton-per-year expansion project for the chlorantraniliprole intermediate ETHYL 3-BROMO-1-(3-CHLOROPYRIDIN-2-YL)-1H-PYRAZOLE-5-CARBOXYLATE (k acid for short) has successfully passed the expert technical review and obtained environmental impact assessment approval from local government.
Previously, Zhonggao Chemical had completed a 1,500-ton-per-year K acid expansion project in 2024. This time, the company plans to upgrade the existing 1,500-ton-per-year K acid production line through technical transformation and add new equipment in the existing production workshop to expand the capacity to 3,000 tons per year.
The project, to be constructed by Zhonggao Chemical, is of an expansion nature. It will be located within the company's premises in the Bayin'aobao Industrial Park, Alxa High-tech Industrial Development Zone, Inner Mongolia. The total investment for the project is as high as 230 million yuan, with 3.5 million yuan allocated for environmental protection. The construction content and scale mainly include the technical upgrading and expansion of the existing 1,500-ton-per-year K acid production line. Through process improvement and equipment renewal, the project will build a production line for 3,000 tons of K acid per year and by-products such as anhydrous ethanol, sulfaguanidine, and sodium chloride.
The advancement of this expansion project not only reflects Zhonggao Chemical's determination in technological innovation and capacity enhancement but also highlights Zhongshan Group's strategic layout for continuous development in the chemical industry. With the implementation of the project, Zhonggao Chemical's market position in the chlorantraniliprole production field will be further consolidated, bringing new economic growth points for the company. Meanwhile, it will create more opportunities for local economic development and employment.
