With over 40 years in the crop protection market, Sipcam Nichino Brazil has unveiled its new Seed Pro Platform for seed treatment (ST). Officially launching in May, the concept is primarily aimed at soybean cultivation and marks the Italian-Japanese company's entry into the ST segment in Brazil.

The Seed Pro Platform includes the fungicides Tiofanil® FS and Torino®, as well as the biostimulant Abyss®, the polymer Blue 2005, and the drying powder Dry Shine. Bruno Souza Monção, an agronomist and marketing manager at Sipcam Nichino Brazil, told AgroPages that the Seed Pro Platform "incorporates service provision to the producer, tied to a successful strategy for the protection of soybean seeds and other crops, such as peanuts and wheat."

According to Monção, Tiofanil® FS is a systemic and contact fungicide with a broad spectrum of action. It was highlighted among the innovations at the latest Brazilian Seed Congress and is described by the company as the first and only multisite-based (chlorothalonil) seed treatment product. Recommended for soybeans, the executive emphasizes, "it is also among the most used fungicides in peanut cultivation today."

Torino®, he adds, is also described as a systemic and contact fungicide with a broad spectrum of action. "It promotes better plant establishment and enhances soybean productivity. In the same crop, it is recommended for seed rot, phomopsis, purple stain, anthracnose, watery rot, and white mold," he adds.

According to Monção, both fungicides stood out in the Network Trials of the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons in the study "Efficiency of Soybean Seed Treatment with Fungicides in Controlling Major Seed and Soil Fungi." In these two soybean cycles, 80 trials were completed, led by Embrapa Soybean, with the participation of more than ten consultancies.

The biostimulant Abyss, Monção adds, aids in germination, stand formation, and initial root development. "Our focus is where everything begins. The Seed Pro Platform is backed by extensive research and will enter the market to help farmers make the best decisions in the initial phase of their crops," concludes Monção.
