BRQ Brasilquímica enters biopesticide market with Bacill Mixqrcode

Brazilian biological inputs company BRQ Brasilquímica has exclusively announced to AgroPages its entry into the biopesticide market with the launch of Bacill Mix.

The new product comprises four different strains of Bacillus (two of B. amyloliquefaciens, one of B. subtilis, and one of B. thuringiensis). 


According to the manufacturer, these bacteria can control nematodes, and Bacill Mix is registered for controlling root-knot nematodes (Meloidogyne incognita). This pest primarily affects crops such as soybeans, cotton, sugarcane, and vegetables.


However, BRQ Brasilquímica highlighted that the launch is not limited to being just a bionematicide. As a secondary effect, the Brazilian company emphasized that the product promotes plant growth. The recommendation is for application in planting furrows, seed treatment, drenching, localized vinasse, or ratoon cutting—in the case of sugarcane.

According to BRQ Brasilquímica, the launch of Bacill Mix reflected the "strength of the company's investments in natural and biological solutions."

"BRQ is increasingly betting on biosolutions, with trained teams dedicated to researching and developing innovative products," said BRQ CEO Renan Cardoso.


The executive pointed out that the new bionematicide has shown positive results in field experiments. "With this new solution, we are expanding our market presence, further contributing to the profitability and quality of our customers' crops," he stated.


Bernardo Borges, BRQ's technical manager, added that nematodes are a common problem throughout Brazil, but they find ideal conditions for more intense attacks in sandy, hot, and humid soils. 


"In this scenario, they prevent plants from properly absorbing water and nutrients. Furthermore, they weaken the plants and open the door for diseases to enter," he highlighted.


The scale of losses caused by these microorganisms is significant: according to a Brazilian Nematology Society (SBN) study, they are estimated at BRL65 billion annually in the country.


"BRQ Brasilquímica's new product represents an important step in helping farmers manage this issue. We stand alongside producers and are already preparing new solutions," Cardoso said in conclusion.
