The agricultural products division of the German DVA Group has announced the relocation of its "global decision-making center" to Brazil.

João Aleixo, Director Global Agro at DVA.jpgAccording to Brazilian João Aleixo, CEO of DVA Agro, the project's goal is to double the country's pesticide production. Aleixo explained that DVA International, the chemical group's financial headquarters, will remain in Hamburg, Germany, but DVA Agro is moving to Brazil.

Looking ahead, Aleixo projects that Brazil will match the size of the company's entire current global operation (53 countries) within three years. DVA Agro has been implementing a new model through its recently created Agroallianz brand, which has already launched 22 chemical products to achieve this goal.

Structured in partnership with Coopercitrus, Brazil's largest cooperative by number of members, the agribusiness arm of the German group develops, produces, and markets its portfolio of pesticides, adjuvants, and bio-inputs in Brazil. In this model, according to João Aleixo, Coopercitrus holds 15% of the partnership, while the DVA Group retains the remaining 85%.

Through this partnership, the company accesses a market of 42,000 farmers. However, the plan is to reach 100,000 by forming additional partnerships with other cooperatives and traders. Aleixo explained that the benefit for DVA Agro’s partners in this business model is that farmers can purchase products at more affordable prices.

Currently, the company has 150 registration requests in Brazil, with 41 already approved, and 25% of those are new products on the market. According to Aleixo, DVA Agro's goal is to meet 90% of the demand from soybean, corn, and sugarcane producers for pesticides, biostimulants, foliar fertilizers, antioxidants, and biologicals by 2029.

One of the company’s major investments is in producing adjuvants and application technologies at the factory it opened last year in São Paulo, Brazil. DVA has installed its global research and development laboratory in the same location. This unit also serves subsidiaries in South American countries such as Argentina, Paraguay, Bolivia, and Colombia. For the 2025/2026 harvest, DVA Agro plans to grow in the biological inputs market with the Esencys brand, featuring products sourced from the company’s factory in Málaga, Spain. Lastly, the group plans to build its third unit in Brazil by 2028: a US$12 million agrochemical formulation factory.
