The agricultural solutions industry, BRQ Brasilquímica, has announced plans to bolster its structure to advance sustainable agricultural production.
The central pillar of this strategy is expanding its biological products and special fertilizer division. These segments currently represented 15% of the company's business, and the company intends to triple this share in three years.
″Brazilian agriculture is rapidly moving towards sustainability,″ stated Marcelo Fernandes, Chairman of the Board of BRQ Brasilquímica. The growth of bio-inputs, he asserts, sends an undeniable message: ″Farmers want partners who understand their needs and help them produce more efficiently, with higher productivity rates and respect for the environment and people.″
With 29 years of experience, BRQ Brasilquímica aims to align its market strategy with modern agribusiness demands. Their main products are raw materials, including adjuvants and salts, but the plan is to expand in sustainable products.
″We have reached this point based on imported inputs. Now, our strategic planning points in another direction,″ Fernandes announced. The company’s biological and special fertilizer production units can ″more than double the current production and accelerate expansion.″
BRQ Brasilquímica operates throughout Brazil, with a significant presence in sugarcane, coffee, cotton, soybeans, corn, and horticultural crops. However, Fernandes emphasized that the company has a portfolio suitable for all major crops.
Research & Development
BRQ Brasilquímica also announced the appointment of a biotechnologist and Ph.D. Vanessa Mendes is the coordinator of research and development (R&D). This move aims to strengthen the company’s R&D sector, facilitating continuous growth in the portfolio of biological products, a segment experiencing substantial increase in the national market.
″One of our challenges is meeting the demand for high-quality, modern, and innovative biological products. This concept involves everything from team formation to implementing efficient R&D processes,″ Mendes told AgroPages.
″We also aim to establish strategic partnerships with research institutions and collaborate with other company areas to ensure our solutions meet client needs and positively contribute to sustainable food production,″ she added.
Vanessa Mendes, a biotechnology graduate with a master's in plant protection focusing on biological control and agricultural biotechnology and a doctorate in sciences with a focus on biochemistry, has worked at prominent institutions such as Embrapa (Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation) Genetic Resources and Biotechnology.
″In this project, I will coordinate the biologicals area and contribute to a comprehensive approach, from detailed analysis of existing bio-inputs to the research and development of new natural solutions. Additionally, we are actively exploring modern growth opportunities, particularly in developing biopesticides,″ Mendes explained.
Renan Cardoso, CEO of BRQ Brasilquímica, stated, ″Vanessa brings solid and extensive experience in R&D of fermentation-based biological products and will help elevate our quality standards.″
″With this additional reinforcement, we will not only improve and update our existing biological products but also expand our presence and impact in the bio-input market,″ Cardoso said in conclusion.
