Root-knot nematodes are highly specialized nematodes that infect a wide range of hosts, including vegetables, melons, beans, etc. Currently, the mainstream management of root-knot nematodes involves fumigation and in-furrow application of chemical pesticides. However, most of pesticides for nematodes control are non-selective biocides which will not only eradicate the nematodes, but also harm beneficial microorganisms and natural enemies, thus disrupting the ecological balance of the soil.
