The adoption of digital tools in the field has allowed rural producers to make more assertive decisions based on data, and obtain increasingly better results. So more customers can benefit from these technologies, Bayer launched FieldView Cab for Android. The solution, created to simplify and make field data collection more accessible, aims to democratize farmers' access to the functionality, considering that some 80% of Brazilians use the Android operating system, according to research on the Statista website.

The application, which will be available in Brazil from 2024, is part of the range of solutions from Climate FieldView, the German multinational's digital agriculture platform, which has more than 25 million hectares already mapped across the country.

The news was presented during the seventh edition of Impulso Bayer Talks, under the theme, "Digital Agriculture," the first to held in partnership with Climate FieldView. During the event, aimed at customers with three stars or more in the company's loyalty program, Bayer, its partners and other market players shared relevant content and insights on the latest innovative trends and perspectives for the agricultural sector.

In addition to the Android application, Climate FieldView also announced two other tools for this next harvest, which are FieldView Máquinas and new reports on crop protection. FieldView Máquinas will be available for purchase or redemption through Orbia and will offer, in aggregate, various data on agricultural equipment, such as fuel consumption, hours worked and average speed. The sub-plot report, a tool currently available to users of FieldView's Plus plan, now includes pesticide data, allowing producers to more efficiently analyze their applications.

Other company solutions were also presented to enable rural producers to grow more productive crops, such as Bayer Valora for corn, Bayer Directo for nematodes and PRO Carbono, in addition to Bayer's strategic partnership with Microsoft, as explained by the area director of the company's customer experience department, Vinicius Faião.

″All program initiatives aim to promote dialogue, explore new technologies and discuss crucial topics for agribusiness. We are committed to offering comprehensive solutions to farmers, whether through innovative products and technologies, or through new approaches to relationships and knowledge. The announcement of the launch of this app for Android is a great joy to us, as it reinforces our commitment to providing solutions that meet the needs of our producers and propel them into the future,″ Faião said.

According to Climate FieldView's product marketing manager for Latin America, Luiz Vicenzi, the objective of the Android version of FieldView Cab is to democratize access to relevant field data. ″The launch arose from conversations with farmers across the country, who expressed the need for Climate FieldView's tools to be compatible with Android,″ he said.

Vincenzi also pointed out that, as leaders in the sector, Bayer aims to become an enabler of the use of digital technologies in the field. ″Internally, digitalization allows us to improve the efficiency of our operations, while externally, it empowers farmers to make better decisions, helping us identify new ways of generating innovation, reducing our environmental footprint and serving customers in an increasingly personalized way, in addition to developing new business models,″ he added.

The impact of technology in the field

With the arrival of FieldView Cab for Android, more farmers will be interested in purchasing the tool and having access to the benefits its generates, said Maurício Nicocelli Netto, digital agriculture consultant at Monari, in Lucas do Rio Verde (MT ). ″Small and medium producers did not invest in the solution because it was not compatible with this operating system. Now, without a doubt, this new feature will encourage them to acquire innovation and start making assertive decisions based on data to have successful planting and harvesting,″ Netto said.

Maira Lelis, a rural producer in the Guaíra region in the interior of São Paulo, has been using the Climate FieldView digital tool since 2019. She said that data has become the new treasure for good crop management. ″Based on the information generated by the tool from our own crops and plots, we were able to explore all the potential we have, because with this data, we were able to make assertive decisions and reduce the chances of errors. This year, we were even able to correct some failures in corn planting thanks to the platform, which showed us that there was a need for intervention. The result of this is increasingly greater and more sustainable productivity,″ Lelis said.
