ADAMA revealed exclusively to AgroPages the expansion of the registration of its insecticide Trivor (Acetamiprid + Pyriproxyfen) to another 21 new crops.

Now, the product can also be applied to citrus, peanuts, yacon potatoes, cocoa, yam, carrots, shallots, cupuacu, duboisia, peas, beans, guarana, chickpeas, yams, lentils, apples, cassava, passion fruit, turnip, radish, and pomegranate.

Trivor is a systemic insecticide with contact and ingestion action, which can be applied through ground or aerial spraying. According to ADAMA, the leaflet’s extension for these crops aims to support producers in managing some of the main pests that attack these crops. Among these insects of most significant concern are thrips (Frankliniella sp.) on peanuts and carrots; psyllid (Diaphorina citri) and cochineal (Orthezia praelonga) in citrus; oriental moth (Grapholita molesta) and fruit fly (Anastrepha fraterculus) on apples, and aphids, also on carrots.

″With a combination of molecules that act on all stages of the target insects, Trivor promotes effective control of the main species that cause problems for farmers, especially those with a short life cycle and rapid infestations,″ the Israeli company said.

According to Raphael Malandrino, Product Manager (Insecticides) at ADAMA, ″Trivor is already an important ally for the producer in the management of whiteflies, aphids, and thrips, for example, in beans, tomatoes, and some fruits.″ The expansion of registration for new pests and crops comes to ″support producers of these other crops as a different tool for insect control,″ he highlighted.

Brazil is the third largest fruit producer in the world and has a diversified vegetable market. ″Some of these crops are very susceptible to insect attacks, which can cause losses of up to 80% of production, if not controlled, in addition to a significant reduction in the quality of products for sale,″ Malandrino added.

″ADAMA understood the producer’s need for new tools for insect management and delivered an efficient solution and an important ally in protecting productivity,″ the Product Manager (Insecticides) said in conclusion.
