Adama has obtained the registration for its newest solution to combat whiteflies: the insecticide, Trivor (acetamiprid + pyriproxyfen). The product controls the development of the insect in all its phases, making its eggs infertile and breaking its cycle of activity in plants.
Only in tomatoes, this small insect can represent losses of 40% to 70% in the condition of the virus vector, according to data from Embrapa (Brazilian Agricultural Research Company).
"The whitefly harms the health of large-scale crops and extracts nutrients from plants, causing leaf fumagine to inhibit photosynthesis. In certain horticultural crops, it even transmits viruses through the sucking process," said Fabrício Pacheco, product manager of Adama Brasil.
"In order to offer effective control over the insect, Trivor combines practicality and effectiveness in its shock and residual action, besides being easily applicable because it is composed of a ready mix," added the executive.
According to the manufacturer, Trivor has the necessary force in handling the insect because of the great reach of crops to which it can be applied. In addition to a wide variety of horticultural crops, such as potatoes, tomatoes, onions and others, the insecticide can also be applied to soybean and cotton crops, which suffer from constant problems with the toxins released by the whitefly.
