Wolf Sementes announced the launch of the Grafitek seed, which is graphited without synthetic material or oil derivatives. Available for Brachiaria Ruziziensis, the treatment used only biodegradable products, without interfering with the Industrial Seed Treatment (IST) safety.
The use of graphite to improve crop plantability has accompanied the evolution of TSI in Brazil. However, the current TSI generally used a polymer that could change the texture of the seed, interfere with the planting fluidity, generate losses, with poor formation of the crop stand.
″Grafitek is made up 100% of biodegradable products whose solubility is immediate in contact with water, which facilitates seed germination in the field,″ reported Tiago Penha Pontes, the agronomist responsible for Wolf's production fields.
According to the specialist, the treatment provided uniform seeds in terms of weight, size, and coverage distribution, simplifying the equipment adjustment process. Another gain was in the excellent flow that allowed uniform distribution during sowing, avoiding waste, he added.
He said that the Brachiaria Ruziziensis seed with Grafitek by Wolf Sementes also maximized germination efficiency, since it combined high purity (at least 95%), ″Nematode Free″ quality control, and high solubility in contact with water, allowing safe and faster germination.
Seeds treated with graphite stood out for combining a high degree of germination with ease of planting because they underwent industrial treatment. In addition to ensuring its nutritional base and inhibiting possible diseases, it created a lubricating layer that reduced friction and facilitated drainage during planting.
Studies conducted in Brazil showed that graphite did not negatively interfere with seed germination, in addition to being inert, non-toxic, and non-perishable. Allied with the use of biodegradable products in the treatment covering syrup, the new system added environmentally sustainable elements to Brazilian agribusiness.
