Milliken do Brasil opens seed polymer factory

Milliken do Brasil announced the inauguration of a factory to produce polymers that preserve active ingredients in seeds.

According to the North American company, these polymers are intended for companies that produce seeds for large crops such as corn, soy, wheat, cotton, and barley, among others.

Until now, the product was imported from the headquarters in South Carolina, in the United States.

According to Ivan Francischini Jr, the company's Senior Account Manager, the strategy is to streamline the process of delivering products to customers.

″In addition, with the local production of polymers, we will also be more competitive in the market,″ he added.
 
In 2020, Milliken inaugurated one of its most modern laboratories for application and performance testing in the Brazilian city of São Paulo.

The facilities serve the seed, fertilizer, plastic additive, household, and polyurethane markets, primarily focusing on the agricultural sector.
 
″Milliken's mission is to develop products that do good for people and the environment, and we have products that meet the needs of the Brazilian agricultural sector. Now we can have a faster delivery for sowers that treat the seeds for their use and for their customers,″ Francischini said.

According to the executive, the objective is to start with the production of polymers that would make it possible to give priority to seed growers in Brazil.

″In the future, we aim to expand production to serve not only the Brazilian market but also other countries in South America,″ he guaranteed.

In Francischini's assessment, the seed treatment market has been developing year after year, both in terms of production volume and the requirements for the quality shipped in treated seeds, with a volume increase of syrups for treatments due to the progressive entry of new active and additive products on the market.

For him, this has been making the process increasingly challenging in terms of quality and operations.

″As an innovation-oriented company, Milliken has been anticipating this market evolution by bringing new products with innovative technologies that improve the distribution of active ingredients, and increase the protection of seed treatment, in addition to promoting a great seed appearance. treated," he said.

″Also in the process, with a more flexible approach, it is adaptable to different production systems that aim to optimize the use of polymers and colors in their different functionalities, positively impacting the quality of treatment, greater operational efficiency, reduction of product waste and the consequent possibility of cost reduction. The differentiated technical support offered to customers guarantees the best use of Milliken products in the seed treatment activity,″ he said in conclusion.
