The Brazilian National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) approved the toxicological evaluation of the technical fluindapyr from Isagro.

Isagro Brasil placed the order, which ended up being incorporated by Gowan Agricultural Products Ltda.

FMC developed the Fluindapyr molecule with the Italian company Isagro S.p.A.

FMC announced the product without a defined name, in 2012. In 2020, it acquired the rights to the molecule for US$65 million.

Fluindapyr is a fungicide and nematicide of the pyrazole-carboxamides group.

It acts as an inhibitor of succinate dehydrogenase, a key enzyme in the citric acid cycle (Krebs Cycle, series of chemical reactions used by all aerobic organisms to generate energy).

By inhibiting succinate dehydrogenase, fluindapyr interrupted the energy production process, leading to fungal cell death.

Based on fluindapyr, FMC launched the fungicide Onsuva in 2022 in Argentina and Paraguay, targeting soybean and peanut diseases.

In Brazil, there are several registration requests for commercial products based on this molecule, such as: Erthos (fluindapyr and difenoconazole), Ferus (fluindapyr and azoxystrobin and difenoconazole) and Rustop (fluindapyr and azoxystrobin).

There is also a request from Isagro Brasil for the registration of a product with the trademark Fluarys (fluindapyr and prothioconazole) for the soybean crop.
