Corteva Agriscience is working to make its seed treatment portfolio even more robust and now has an extension to the Dermacor® package insert for sorghum, rice and bean crops.

Its action, associated with Bt technology, offers a broad spectrum of control of soil and foliar pests, in addition to initial diseases, providing excellent stand maintenance, rapid crop establishment, and protecting the farmer's most significant investment: the seed.

″Dermacor®, already a reference in soybean and corn crops, promotes the beginning of a crop free of the main pests and becomes an important ally for sorghum, rice and bean producers. Since it has translaminar action being absorbed by the root and taken to the leaves, it protects not only the seed but the beginning of the crop, offering more quality and greater control to the farmer,″ said Dante Queiroz, Product Leader for Seed Treatment at Corteva Agriscience.

In the rice crop, the producer has faced a great challenge: the resistance of the Rootworm (Oryzophagus oryzae) to modes of action already used for many years in different regions of Brazil. With a new active principle, Dermacor® has the great differential of helping the producer in the management to avoid resistance of this pest, which can reduce productivity by up to 20%.

In sorghum cultivation, the technology controls the fall armyworm (Spodoptera Frugiperda), one of the main threats to the crop. The caterpillar can cause losses of 17 to 38.7% in production, according to Embrapa. For bean cultivation, the solution offers efficient control of the Elasmo Caterpillar (Elasmopalpus Lignosellus), which can be found in the main producing regions of the crop in Brazil. This is the most critical of the pests that attack common bean seedlings, and its most significant damage occurs in the initial development phase.
