Sparytec.pngSpraytec announced the launch of “TopSeed,” a wheat and barley seed treatment. The product contains the TrichoVidas technology, a solution formulated with Trichoderma harzianum provided by partner company Microvidas from Argentina.

According to estimates released by the companies, the biological seed treatment market will grow by around 12% during the current fine grains season in Argentina, and should surpass chemical formulation treatments in terms of number of hectares sown.

Trichovidas is a solution that contains Trichoderma harzianum, a beneficial fungus and antagonist of pathogenic microorganisms, which actively competes for space and nutrients in the rhizosphere, moving them away from plant roots.

It also acts by parasitizing phytopathogens and preventing their growth, by producing hydrolytic enzymes that attack the cell wall and release mycotoxins.

Trichoderma sp, in addition to being a biocontroller, is a biofertilizer, as it increases the availability of nutrients for plants, promoting their growth and inducing disease resistance.

TopSeed features Spraytec microtechnology for treating wheat and barley that provides zinc, silicon and all the micronutrients, to guarantee uniform emergence.

In trials, the combination of these technologies creates a superior multinutrient and phytostimulating effect, increases the availability of nutrients and water absorption, reduces the use of chemical fungicides and the loss of plants attacked by pathogens, controls Pyhtium, Fusarium, Sclerotinia , Phytophthora, Rhizoctonia and Verticillium and other pathogens, and has an anti-stress action.

Trichoderma harzianum also parasitizes these phytopathogens and prevents their growth, by producing hydrolytic enzymes that attack the cell wall and release mycotoxins.

It has high reproductive capacity and the ability to survive in unfavorable environmental conditions, which enables it to colonize soils and substrates. The growth pH range is from 2 to 6, and the temperature range is between 10°C and 40°C, with the optimum being between 15°C and 30°C.
