xarvio® SCOUTING, from BASF Digital Farming GmbH, has introduced an instant pheromone trap analysis feature to support European growers of grapes, pome fruit and stone fruit this growing season.

QQ截图20220401161708.jpgThe new, precision feature is accessible in the free to download and use xarvio SCOUTING smartphone app. Suitable for growers in France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Poland, Spain, and the UK, the feature uses advanced image recognition technology, machine learning and algorithms to accurately identify and count codling moth, grape moth, and oriental fruit moth numbers in pheromone traps.

Intuitive and easy to use, growers using xarvio SCOUTING simply take a picture of the pheromone trap with their smartphone, then submit the image for analysis. Within seconds they receive the result from the app, detailing the insect pest type and number. Access to this information helps growers make faster crop management decisions, while gaining a better understanding of potential insect pest infestation levels in their crops and the local surrounding area. The new feature also automatically documents all findings.

“At xarvio we remain focussed on providing greater convenience and value to farmers, advisors and growers, helping them optimize crop production, improve profitability and achieve greater sustainability. This is possible because our digital solutions enable faster, precise agronomic decisions including a more efficient use of crop applications,” says Eva Hill, Global Product Manager xarvio SCOUTING.

We’re confident growers of grapes, pome fruit and stone fruit, will appreciate the value this new feature delivers, particularly its accuracy and the fact it saves them from the often tedious and time-consuming task of manually counting insect pests in pheromone traps,” concludes Hill.

xarvio SCOUTING is tailored to suit local agronomic conditions. In addition to its new pheromone trap analysis feature, it monitors nitrogen uptake, analyzes leaf damage, detects more than 400 weeds and recognizes damages caused by more than 400 different diseases, insect pests and nutrient deficiencies in over 60 different crops.

xarvio SCOUTING is free to download and use from the App Store or Google Play.
