Precision Ag Technology Smart Fertilizer rebrands to i-Plant Nutrition

London based private equity company Yellow Brick Capital have announced the launch of i-Plant Nutrition; an expansion and rename of their precision agriculture software; Smart Fertilizer Software. The rename is a required next step brought on by the software’s increased capabilities and improvement.

Alongside the pre-existing synthetic fertilizer related offering, i-Plant Nutrition is now also providing sensor less-irrigation guidance, a knowledge sharing platform and soon to include organic fertilizer recipes and excitingly, pest control management. The rebrand signifies a new era for the company as it continues to expand its usership in the Americas, Asia, Europe, and Africa.

With the company rename, Yellow Brick Capital have also announced the appointment of Johnathan Kol-Bar as CEO of i-Plant Nutrition.

The rebrand from Smart Fertilizer to i-Plant Nutrition welcomes a new era for the company. i-Plant Nutrition is part of Yellow Brick Capital’s portfolio of precision agriculture companies collectively named YB AgTech. The newly advanced i-Plant Nutrition software has new capabilities to interact and communicate with other technologies that sit within YB AgTech. This new offering will enable customers to utilize irrigation and fertigation provisions including I-Feeder’s fertigation hardware and PlantMetrics’ real-time data collection sensors.

Alongside this, the new technology will include pest control which will identify pathogens, pinpoint their location on a heatmap and recommend pesticides, both synthetic and organic versions. The software will also be able to recommend organic fertilizers which will be blended into the software’s database, running on its own independent algorithm. Other features of the updated i-Plant Nutrition platform are drainage capabilities which allows a user to control key parameters for hydroponics irrigation including drip and drainage, and media analysis, which allows a user to incorporate soilless substrate in the calculations for the precise fertilization plan.

Since it first launched in 2014, Smart Fertilizer has amassed thousands of users worldwide. Clients around the world benefit from reduced risk, precision fertilizer recipes allowing increased yields and sustainable farming practices through accurate and in several cases lower fertilizer use. For example, Exeter Produce Ltd, based in Ontario Canada, reveal that by using the software system, they have been able to reduce pesticides by 25% whilst increasing yields of their crops (rutabagas and bell peppers) by 144% and 68% respectively. This is a direct comparison to production without the software. The updated i-Plant Nutrition offering will enable customers to now not only have access to precision, unbiased fertilizer recipes, but also precision irrigation recommendations, organic fertilizer recommendations and pest management, increasing both yields and overall profitability, lowering risk and allowing data management of historic events to make more informed decisions going forward.

The i-Plant Nutrition software is also becoming more accessible to customers. Alongside web accessibility (which was available with Smart Fertilizer Software), i-Plant Nutrition can also be used on a mobile app, for both Apple and Android devices. The API can also be integrated directly into a business management platform for the client. What’s more, i-Plant Nutrition will also be offering white label services, offering clients a virtual copy of the i-Plant Nutrition software but with branding, logos, and products which represents the company’s own capabilities and personality.

I-Plant Nutrition is also partnering with SupPlant for a new app, named GroPlant, which combines irrigation and fertigation capabilities. The company will also continue to support the Smart Fertilizer Knowledge Hub, a free online forum for networking, forum discussion and agricultural advice.

Johnathan Kol-Bar, CEO of i-Plant Nutrition commented: “The rename and rebrand of Smart Fertilizer into i-Plant Nutrition welcomes an exciting new era for the company. Under the Smart Fertilizer name, the software’s primary service was fertilization assistance. I-Plant Nutrition will be offering so much more than that with irrigation, fertigation and organic fertilizer technology set to be provided alongside the existing fertilization offering. Smart Fertilizer has built a loyal client base since it was launched in 2014 and we now look forward to sharing the newly named i-Plant Nutrition platform with our users, alongside attracting new clients from around the globe.”
