Azoxystrobin 20% + Flutriafol 20% SC granted registration in Nigaragua, will drive market development in Latin America

The Azoxystrobin 20% + Flutriafol 20% SC, a novel fungicide made by Shanghai Yuelian, was recently granted registration in Nigaragua for application at a dosage of 0.3-0.5L/ha for controlling rice manchado del grano, helminthosporium oryzae, rhizoctonia solani, Tizon temprano alternaria sp. pudricion de la vaina and Sarocladium oryzae, as well as for application at a dosage of 0.4-0.5L/ha for controlling peanut tizon temprano Alternaria sp., Mancha foliar temprana, Cercospora arachidicola, Mancha corchosa, Leptosphaerulina crasiasca and Rhizoctonia solani. 

The brand-new solution is also currently in the process of being registered in Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominica, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama and Belize, being scheduled for completion between the end of 2021 to 2022.

AgroPages has analyzed the product’s development and learned that ICAMA granted Yuelian’s Azoxystrobin 20% + Flutriafol 20% SC registration in China back on 19th July, 2017, to control wheat powdery mildew, strawberry powdery mildew and rice sheath blight. It received very positive market feedback. The field trial effect was presented in the following contrast. So far, there has not been another company granted registration of the same product by ICAMA.

The flutriafol and azoxystrobin mixture is not the first formulation with these ingredients. In 2016, it was reported that FMC released an azoxystrobin + flutriafol fungicide, called “Topguard EQ,” which provides long-lasting disease control and care for more than 20 crops, including corn, soybean, wheat and walnut. Over 20 years of use, the mixture has shown effective performance, attributable to the systemic activity of flutriafol and the broad fungicidal spectrum of azoxystrobin. In addition, the product is also effective in terms of plant care.

“Besides the Latin American market, our Azoxystrobin 20% + Flutriafol 20% SC was granted registration in Pakistan in 2018 and was applied to control wheat powdery mildew. The product is becoming more and popular among farmers in Pakistan, where imports have been growing year by year, the area used for the product has covered 100,000 hectares of wheat, and strives to create sales of tens of millions of RMB” said Wendy HU, Business Development Specialist of Yuelian, to AgroPages.
