Sumitomo Chemical announced the launch in Brazil of Aveo, a new biological solution for seed treatment to combat nematodes.

According to the manufacturer, the Aveo bionematicide (Bacillus amyloliquefaciens strain PTA-4838), guarantees a “series of benefits for the plant, high efficacy in the control of nematodes and safety.” The bacteria colonize plant roots, creating a bio-barrier that prevents nematode penetration of the roots.

Nematodes are one of the main problems for soybean productivity in all regions of Brazil. According to Sumitomo Chemical, Aveo has a broad spectrum of control and a long period of action for seed treatment. According to the company's studies, bionematicide promotes an increase in the productivity of the soybean crop by around 5%.

Eduardo Figueiredo, marketing manager of BioRacionais, Sumitomo Chemical for Latin America, explained that Aveo is an exclusive strain. Its attributes include safety, high efficacy, and the physiological effect, which provides greater volume and weight of roots, increased biomass, and better initial plant start-up.

According to Figueiredo, the bionematicide is formulated as a FS (flowable concentrate) and is specific to seed treatment. It generates greater adhesion of the product to the seed and ease of use. “Our solution has the lowest dose on the market, from 15 ml to 20 ml for 100 kg of seeds,” the manager said.

Eduardo added that Aveo is highly effective against the main nematodes that cause damage to soybean crops, in addition to providing the plant with a better establishment, as it increases root production, improves initial grubbing, and, therefore, better yields. “In market development work, we saw a 5% increase in productivity, where we used Aveo,” he added.

The company's novelty is also characterized by a shelf life of up to three years, a factor that few biological products on the market achieve. Furthermore, it allows for ease of use and blends.

“Formulation technology expertise is a hallmark of Sumitomo Chemical, for both biological and chemical products. This fact also guarantees that the products in the Sumitomo Chemical portfolio are of higher quality and bring comfort to the farmer,” Manager of Products and Seed Treatment at Sumitomo Chemical, Leonardo Ferreira said in conclusion.
