The company Biogrow launched a mobile seed treatment equipment in Argentina that travels to the client's farms throughout the country.
The service is achieved with the machinery mounted on trailers that can be rented, according to agronomist Eduardo Fabano, a manager at Biogrow.
He said the machines are of high capacity and have a working range that goes from 7 to 20 tons of treated seeds per hour, depending a lot on the type of seed. “Wheat and soybeans can be processed at a higher speed,” he explained.
“This type of professional treatment in the farmer's field contributes a lot to taking care of the seed's original germinative power (PG) and maximize implantation. In addition, it has a command system that allows control of all process parameters. Automation includes the ability to generate reports on the quantity of treated seeds and the volume of product used,” Fabano added.
“We also have a database on biological products on the market and their compatibility to understand the traceability of treatments with living organisms. This implies receiving the products with custody under the recommended conditions. They are to be used in treatments respecting the order of the premix – to avoid excess products overnight. There are also field trips to verify the nodulation and/or other expected effects in the value proposition,” the expert said.
“According to our data, seed treatments carried out 'on farm' by the producer have more than 20% dispersion of the product in the seed compared to treatments carried out with this portable equipment where the correct dose is applied. A percentage impacts the success of the implementation and that has hidden costs for the producer. In the last two harvests we have surpassed 10,000 tons of treated seeds, not only soy and cereals but also beans, peanuts, rice, etc.”, he said in conclusion.
