Chinese glyphosate manufacturers might rely less on imported catalyst

A catalyst involved in glyphosate synthesis developed by a Chinese company testified with good performance by some major Chinese glyphosate manufacturers recently.

The trials have proved that the new catalyst offers great advantages against the imported similar products such as catalytic activity, stability, selectivity. This carbon catalyst can provide double activities than the imported products, which made it perfect for IDA method in high PMIDA concentration. Other advantages such as shortening reaction time, reducing waste emissions and increasing efficiency would further benefit the IDA route.

Yet China been the largest glyphosate producers in the world, much dependence on imported catalyst has constrained the Chinese glyphosate industry. This new property-owned product has realized its industrialization and successfully introduced to some major glyphosate producers in Jiangsu province.
