Pioneer, Corteva's seed brand, introduced the industrial seed treatment, TSI Soja Completa, in Brazil. According to the company, the solution offers soybean farmers the “union of excellent genetics with the best biotechnologies, technical knowledge, operational capacity and superior assets on the market. The objective is to facilitate the work of Brazilian farmers, delivering a more complete and fully ready seed for planting.”

Ivo Lersch Junior (Industrial Seed Treatment Leader at Corteva Agriscience) said, “TSI Soja Completa facilitates the operational process of producers, preventing them from being exposed to the seed treatment done on farms and eliminating the risks of mixtures of sieves and cultivars. The technology also ensures better germination, longevity of storage and uniformity of crop, and protects productive potential.”

To achieve this result, Pioneer explained that the main needs of producers were assessed and technically identified, to determine which products can deliver an even more complete soybean seed. This study was carried out at the Seed Treatment Technology Center (CSAT), Corteva’s first such facility in Latin America and second in the world.

During seed treatment, the fungicide, Rancona T (Ipconazol + Tiram), and the insecticide, Dermacor (Chlorantraniliprole), are used. In addition, Pioneer has partnered with Rizobacter, a company globally recognized for producing inoculants to add to the TSI Soybean Full Rizoliq LLI, which benefits crops within 60 days of pre-inoculation.

The new treatment also includes the bacterial protector, Premax, which assists the fixation the bacteria and Rizomicro CoMo. It is also a good source of Cobalt and Molybdenum that complement the needs of producers.

“More than 70% of farmers add inoculants to soybean seeds that have already been industrially treated, which usually causes a decrease in the active ingredients previously applied and accelerates the loss of seed quality. After three years of research, Pioneer has become a leader in offering a seed that enables producers to just open the package and plant. Our next step is to offer, soon, new complete solutions focusing on the needs of each region,” Ivo said in conclusion.
