Why Prothioconazole?
Prothioconazole is very popular according to a recent survey, receiving 13 votes from India, the United States, Mexico, Brazil, Australia and Zimbabwe.
In the January 2019, only a few Chinese suppliers are registered to produce Prothioconazole. ADAMA subsequently announced Prothioconazole and Mancozeb formulations in Paraguay, stating that the market size of prothioconazole is some US$800 million.
There are not many registered suppliers of Prothioconazole in China, which is why its has received the attention of AgroPages' readers. Only three Chinese companies exported samples in 2015 and 2016, and export quantity increased from 80,231 kilograms in 2017 to 262,675 kilograms in 2019.

1.World demand
The total demand for Prothioconazole is 6000 tons, while global sales reached $1110 million in 2018.
2. TC and formulation flow direction
Focusing on final users’ seed treatments, Russia and Ukraine recorded the highest demand for formulations of Prothioconazole and Tebuconazole, with are mostly sourced from Hungry, France and Romania, and controlled by seed giants.
BAYER represented Germany and UPL represented India. Meanwhile, China started from Paraguay. The top company in Brazil and Argentina also traded with China in 2019. Except for UPL, other Indian companies are looking to source from China.

Prothioconazole TC with 97% and 98% formulations are the most exported. Commonly, it is mixed with Azoxystrobin and was first mixed with Tebuconazole in 2019 and Picoxystrobin in 2020.

Only two Chinese suppliers, Anhui Jukai and Hailir, have the ICAMA registration. Other suppliers are planning projects with 8,000-ton and 500-ton production capacities, which will increase supply capacity this year.
What is Prothioconazole?

Not only can it efficiently control Fusarium Head Blight, but it can also effectively inhibit toxins produced by the disease. At the same time, it also has a good effect on the greening and anti-aging on crops, and has an obvious effect on increasing yields. Based on this, Prothioconazole has topped the cereal fungicide market for many years, and nearly 50% of its business come from cereal producers.
