■ Fluto® contains the new molecule herbicide, 'Flucetosulfuron,' developed by FarmHannong
■ Suitable for foliage and water surface treatments, developing premium crop protection market
A leading South Korean agrochemical company, FarmHannong Co., Ltd., launched its herbicide, Fluto® (Flucetosulfuron), in Myanmar oin May with a local partner, Golden Lion High Tech Agricultural Resources Co., Ltd. With the new product's release, FarmHannong entered Myanmar's crop protection market, which has a vast rice cultivation area of over 7 million hectares.
Fluto® is a powerful and safe rice herbicide that has distinctive strengths, such as extremely low phytotoxicity due to its definitive selectivity on rice and exceptional bioefficacy working through leaves, stems and roots of weeds. It can also control mature Echinochloa Crus-Galli over three-leaf stages. Lastly, as Fluto® acts as both foliage and water surface treatments, its multiple functions will provide Myanmarese farmers with an effective solution when used mainly as a foliage treatment herbicide.
The product was launched in May without an official launching ceremony due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and is supplied to direct dealers and sub-dealers in the Ayeyarwaddy and Bago regions near Yangon, the capital of Myanmar. Considering the characteristics of the local market, which is unfamiliar to water surface treatments, Golden Lion is exerting considerbale efforts to sell FarmHannong through its technical advice, such as on the appropriate water depth of paddies, dosage rate, and application window, in order to optimize its efficacy.
Jeff Kwon (Vice President of the Global Business Department of FarmHannong) expressed his expectations, stating, "I hope that Fluto® can provide new agricultural solutions to the Myanmar market, where most herbicide's are foliar treatment products. It is a premium product that can control weeds effectively in one application via both foliar treatment and water surface treatment."
Aik Kham (Managing Director of Golden Lion) said, "We will gradually expand our sales areas across Myanmar after launching this year, with our first in the region near Yangon where our distribution network is concentrated. We expect to help increase Myanmar's rice production," he added.
FarmHannong has been exporting Flucetosulfuron to five countries since it was launched initially in 2004 in South Korea.
Meanwhile, FarmHannong owns five new molecule crop protection products developed through its own exceptional technological expertise in crop protection, which is unique to Korean agro corporations.
