Monsanto introduces Acceleron? Seed Treatment Products for RR2 soybeans and corns

Corn and soybean farmers looking to get their crops off to the best start possible in 2011 are advised to book their seed with Acceleron® seed treatment products.

"Getting the crop off to a fast, healthy start is important for maximizing the performance potential of Genuity® Roundup Ready 2 Yield® soybean varieties and corn hybrids with Genuity® corn traits,” said Tom Schaefer, Monsanto’s marketing lead for Acceleron. “In 2011, we encourage farmers to book their seed with Acceleron seed treatment products, which are designed to help set the stage for a successful finish by protecting seedlings from early-season disease and insect pressure and providing an improved stand and vigor.”

Acceleron® soybean seed treatment products complement Genuity® Roundup Ready 2 Yield® soybeans, helping to optimize seed performance potential and help give farmers a performance advantage right from the start. In Sciota, IL, Grant Curtis planted Genuity® Roundup Ready 2 Yield® soybeans treated with Acceleron soybean seed treatment products in 2010. He believes the seed treatment helped his soybean crop with emergence and early-season growth during tough, dry conditions. At harvest, he was pleased with the yields on his soybean crop.

“After being in the ground for two weeks, if they wouldn’t have been treated with Acceleron soybean seed treatment products, I think we would have had to tear them up and replant them,” he said.

For 2011, Acceleron soybean seed treatment products are available in two product choices.  Acceleron fungicide seed treatment (pyraclostrobin and metalaxyl)products for soybeans offer excellent disease protection with an exclusive fungicide combination, which can also provide improved plant health through more rapid and increased emergence of seedlings under certain colder conditions.
