BASF is launching Gestus, an innovation polymer designed for the cultivation of peanuts in Argentina.
There are several factors that can affect the cultivation of peanuts from the seed. To avoid yield and quality problems, peanut polymers are a high adoption solution, because they prevent tegument detachment at planting. It is necessary to have a polymer to ensure the parameters to improve the adherence of the products on the seed.
As a result, BASF invests some € 2.5 million per day in R&D and has developed more than 15 products for peanut cultivation in recent years, including Gestus, a polymer for peanuts that protects the tegument, apart from providing a more even and shiny finish.
This product, applied in machines for the professional treatment, allows a more precise sowing, both from the point of view of its density, decreasing it between 8 and 10%, and in the application, in which each input that is placed on the seed remains attached to it and in the proper dose.
"At BASF we have three fundamental pillars for Professional Seed Treatment: the product, the machines and the service. Therefore, we work with products that are our own and developed under the same Research and Development platform. In addition, we provide a specialized technical service that allows us to be present, giving support throughout the process of seed treatment, even beyond sowing," said Pablo Ramírez D'Auria, seed treatment manager of BASF.
Gestus joins the complete portfolio of products for the seed treatment of BASF, and is available in all plant seed solutions with HiCoat Super Maní, a long-life peanut inoculant for the professional treatment of seeds, with a formulation that is exclusively liquid and needing a low dose of application.
