Dow Agrosciences has registered its insecticide Spindle (spinosad) in Brazil for the control of plagues in crops, such as coffee, apple, and grapes.
The deferment of the request was published in the Official Union on June 26, 2017 with the approval of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Supply under the No. 15117.
For coffee, the insecticide is recommended for controlling the leaf miner (Leucoptera coffeella). In apples, the product can be used to combat the peach moth (Grapholita molesta), while in grapes Spindle controls the Western flower thrips (Frankliniella occidentalis).
In coffee and grapes, the time of the application suggested by the maker is when the level of economic damage is reached. In apple, Dow recommends application from the beginning of infestation of the plague, and after detecting insects throughout monitoring achieved through traps of pheromone.
