BASF has launched in Argentina the fungicide Sistiva for the seed treatment on wheat and barley. According to the manufacturer, the major differential of the product is to bring 45 days of control for post-emergent diseases of the crop, which allows the farmer more flexibility the moment for the foliar application.
“The leaf spots at the initial stages of the crop force the farmer to anticipate the applications. On the contrary, with Sistiva we achieve to respond to this problem delivering the producer this concrete solution for not having to worry about the first spraying,” explained Juan Pérez Brea, BASF manager for wheat in Argentina.
Pablo Ramírez, manager of Seed Treatment, highlights that the “effectiveness is because it is absorbed by the roots and distributed through all over the plant, bringing continuous protection at the first stages of crop development. The effectiveness of the carboxamide Xemium has been demonstrated in products such as the fungicide Orchesta Ultra, which grew 100% in applied hectares per year since its launch.”
With resistive, BASF extends its full line of winter cereal fungicides in order to maintain healthy crop throughout the cycle, ensuring better grain quality and high yields. This new release of BASF is a proof that winter crops have the strategic relevance for the company at the global level, and that the company invests a high percentage of resources in research and development of the new solutions in wheat and barley.
