The insecticide Voliam Targo just obtained the federal registration in Brazil, being approved by the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa), by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply and by the Brazilian Institute of Natural Environment and Renewable Resources (Ibama). The new solution of Syngenta aims to control the Coffee Borer, the Coffee Leaf Miner, besides the spider mite – all of the plagues caused millions of losses on coffee plantations each year.

Formulated through the molecules of Chlorantraniliprole and Abamectin, the insecticide has a wide spectrum of control of its differential, it has offered elevated performance when compared to the other solutions available in the market. Therefore, Voliam Targo protect the yields of coffee, in line with one of the pillars of The Good Growh Plan, a sustainable agriculture plan of Syngenta.

"The control of the borer and the leaf miner is a big challenge faced by coffee growers and has a strong impact on yields and coffee quality. Due to its formulations, the Voliam Targo technology allows the management of the three main plagues of the crop, protecting not only the leaves, but also the fruits,” affirms Fernando Zinsly, insecticide manager of Syngenta. “The coffee is one strategic crop for Syngenta, which dedicates to work in all of its stages. The arrival of Voliam Targo makes our portfolio even more complete, offering the coffee grower more convenience and better performance at the crop management,” emphasizes André Savino, Marketing Head at Syngenta.

Available for the farmer since February of 2016, Voliam Targo also obtained registration and will be of extreme importance to the soybean crop – at the control of the Soybean Looper – and also for citrus, tomato, melon, potato and grapes. “Widely tested not only for Syngenta, but for researchers of the coffee chain, the product has its proven high performance for plague control,” adds Fernando Zinsly.
