US EPA is reopening the public comment period of EPA’s analysis of “Benefits of Neonicotinoid Seed Treatments to Soybean Production” until January 23rd, 2015. This assessment examines the use of clothianidin, imidacloprid, and thiamethoxam seed treatments in terms of the extent of use and the pests targeted in order to characterize overall benefits to soybean production nationwide. In October, the agency has issued a notice concerning the re-evaluation of these three products under the registration review program, and finds that “neonicotinoid seed treatments of little or no benefit to US soybean production”.
