The US EPA has proposed the approval of Bayer’s inseciticides flupyradifurone TC and end-use products BYI 02960 480 FS and Sivanto 200 SL, targeting piercing, sucking insects such as aphids ad whiteflies.

Flupyradifurone acts on the central nervous system of target insect pests as an agonist of the insect’s nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (nAChR). The lasting effect of the product results in disruption of the insect’s nervous system and its subsequent collapse. This ais is expected to be a major part of the Bayer insecticide package as an alternative to imidacloprid.

The public comment is open until October 25th. Last month, the Canadian authorities also proposed the approval of flupyradifurone and its end-use products. Bayer has launched flupyradifurone as Sivanto Prime in the Central American market Honduras and Guatemala.
