China approves Quelex™ the first herbicide with Arylex™ Active

Dow AgroSciences has recently received the registration of Arylex active (Halauxifen-methyl) from the Chinese Institute for the Control of Agrochemicals, Ministry of Agriculture (ICAMA). The company also received the Chinese approval for manufacture and use for Quelex™ herbicide (Arylex+florasulam ).The information was revealed by Chinese Pesticide Registration Watch. Arylex is an innovative low-use rate herbicide for the control of broadleaf weeds, with utility in multiple crops,with the primary crop being winter wheat. It is effective on ALS resistant weeds, which is a developing issue in cereal growing. This registration is first registration in a major country in the world for this active.
Halauxifen-methyl is also mixed with florasulam and fluroxypyr-meptyl to provide a tool for resistance management, as herbicide with this active ingredient could control Group 2 resistant biotypes of weeds such as cleavers, chickweed, and hemp-nettle. Besides, Halauxifen-methyl breaks down quickly in the environment, predominantly via microbial degradation, enabling broad follow crop flexibility, including to pulses and oilseeds, the season after application.
