Dow AgroSciences LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Dow Chemical Company (DOW), recently announced the brand name for a new herbicide active ingredient. The new molecule has the common name of halauxifen-methyl (ISO provisionally approved) and effective immediately the new active ingredient will be known as Arylex™ active.
Discovered by and proprietary to Dow AgroSciences, Arylex (ARE-eh-lex) is the first member of a new structural class of synthetic auxin herbicides. Arylex is an innovative low-use rate herbicide for the control of broadleaf weeds, with utility in multiple crops.
“The introduction of Arylex active will strengthen Dow AgroSciences’ leadership position in the cereal herbicide segment. Our innovative efforts continue to generate market-focused opportunities for growth with the advancement of a promising new cereal herbicide,” said Tim Hassinger, Vice President, Crop Protection, Dow AgroSciences.
This new molecule will be offered in mixtures primarily with other Dow AgroSciences proprietary herbicides, creating a wide spectrum of products customized for specific geographies which will enhance our strong weed control solutions to growers.
Product concepts containing Arylex are being evaluated across the globe in all major herbicide markets with initial registrations anticipated beginning in 2014.
