Dafeng Seed introducing premium coating formulation from Bayer

Chinese seed company Dafeng Seed Industry (“Dafeng Seed”) recently introduced a premium seed coating formulation from Bayer, which is called Gauqiao + Dingmiaoxin + Raxil, aiming to further enhance the capacity and disease resistance of its “Dafeng 30” corn seed.Dafeng Seed is a large Chinese seed development company currently in possession of 17 released corn varieties. Since 2013, the Company has cooperated with Bayer in customized production of premium seed coating formulation referred to as Gauqiao + Dingmiaoxin + Raxil, which selects green agent to be the coating of corn seed.
Gauqiao (imidacloprid) is at present a worldwide popular seed treatment-purpose super-strong systemic insecticide, which is widely applied in developed countries to production of peanut, cotton and white potato, being very effective against underground pest like grubs and aphids, particularly capable of increasing the emergence of seedling. Dingmiaoxin (metalaxyl+ipconazole) is effective in protection of corn against seedling stem rot caused by fungus. Raxil (tebuconazole) is a kind of seed treatment agent, as well as a kind of plant growth regulator, which is effective in prevention of corn diseases infected through soil, seed and wind.
To prove the actual effect of the combination coating, Dafeng Seed conducted 13 comparative tests in 2013. The results show that the seed treated with such a coating formulation has much decreased fungus while corn seedling grows healthily. Aerial root is noticeably increased; it is effective against the piercing-sucking insect damage. The average increase of yield in trial field reaches around 10%.
Niu Xiaoxiao, the general manager of Dafeng Seed, said that the Company is planning to release to the market 5 million kg of corn seed with such coating formulation in 2014.
