China's pesticide export maintained growth in Aug 2013

China’s pesticide import in Aug declined 19.6% to 4200 tons and 0.6% to $ 39 million in volume and value terms, according to the data released by the Chinese General Administration of Customs. However, pesticide export continued to increase by 27.1% to 84100 tons with value at $ 302 million.
 
The country pesticide import increased by 10.4% to 52800 tons with total value at $ 502 million. Pesticide export maintains steady growth both in terms of volume and value, reaching 779000 tons and $ 2576 million respectively.

Import specifics

Although declined by 28.4% in term of volume to 1400 ton, fungicide remained the largest category of import as usual in Aug. Insecticide import reached 1100 tons with $ 10 million in value. The import volume of herbicide saw a sharp decline by 86.9% to 200 tons.

From Jan to Aug, fungicide import was up by 8.8% to 18900 tons and 11.1% to $ 214 million respectively. Insecticide’s import volume and value showed double digit increases to 7900 tons and $ 125 million. However, herbicide import slightly dropped by 4.5% to 16000 tons and its value was up to $ 108 million.   

Export specifics
 
Herbicide export held the leading position of all category with export volume increased by 31.4% to 54200 tons and value significantly increased by 64.1% to $ 181 million. Insecticide and fungicide export reached 19600 tons and 6300 tons respectively.

From Jan to Aug, both herbicide and insecticide’s export volume and value kept strong growth. Herbicide exported 543700 tons in total and valued at $ 1.64 billion. Insecticide exported 49200 tons and valued at $ 619 million. There was a minor increase in the volume of fungicide import, but value was up by 10.9% to $ 103 million.
