Chemtura agrochem sales up 4% in Q1 2013

Chemtura AgroSolutions’ net sales rose by 3.5% to $ 88 million in the first quarter ended Mar 31.2013. Net sales increased $3 million resulting from $4 million in higher selling prices and $1 million in higher sales volume partly offset by $2 million of unfavorable foreign currency translation. Operating income increased $3 million reflecting $5 million in lower SGA&R costs and the higher selling prices, offset in part by unfavorable product mix and higher manufacturing costs. Increases in sales volume in North and Latin Americas was partly offset by lower sales volumes in Europe and China as the prolonged winter drove a slower start to the growing season.
