ECHA consults on CLH for two pesticides

ECHA is seeking comments on new proposals for harmonised classification and labelling (CLH) for two pesticides: the acaricide, bifenazate, the herbicide, triflusulfuron-methyl. The public consultations will be open for 45 days and will end on 10 May 2013.

The CLH proposal for the pesticide bifenazate has been submitted by the Dutch competent authority. The proposed CLH is skin sensitization; specific target organ toxicity -repeated exposure; hazardous to the aquatic environment; M-factors for hazards to aquatic environment. It is used as an acaricide against a wide range of phytophagous mites and is used in crops and ornamentals.

The other pesticide launched for public consultation is triflusulfuron-methyl. The CLH proposal was submitted by France and the substance has no current harmonised classification. The proposed CLH is Carcinogenicity; Hazardous to the aquatic environment; M-factors for hazards to the aquatic environment. Triflusulfuron-methyl (a variant of triflusulfuron) is a herbicide to be used in agriculture under field conditions.
