Arysta LifeScience Brazil has launched a new service, called “Arysta Fly,” to give sugarcane growers a unique perspective on weed problems. As part of the Arysta Fly program, crop specialists from Arysta LifeScience join sugar mill personnel in a helicopter ride to photograph and visually assess weed control efforts on plantations.

"From the air, it’s easy to see where herbicides failed,” said Jose Gambassi, Marketing –sugar cane Arysta LifeScience. “The most common problems come from broadleaf weeds such as morning glory, mucuna, and castor bean. When these weeds are not kept in check, they compete with sugarcane, reducing yields and quality.”

With aerial observation and the photography, problem areas can be readily identified and diagnosed. This leads to productive discussions and well-informed weed control in subsequent seasons.

"The Arysta Fly program is successful because it provides reliable data that we can use to assist clients in determining the optimal usage of herbicides in sugarcane,” added Gambassi.
