Chile has approved Syngenta's neonicotinoid insecticide, Actara 25 WG (thiamethoxam), for use on grapevines, pome fruits, and some cereals, such as oats, wheat and triticale. The company gained approval of the active ingredient in the country last year as a seed treatment, Cruiser. It is used on a wide range of crops including cereals, such as barley, maize and wheat, and on potatoes. Actara has been a major product for Syngenta in Latin America. It was re-launched earlier this year in Brazil as a “bioactivator” for use on sugar cane.
