Arysta LifeScience announced that it has acquired 100% of the shares of Devidayal Sales Limited (“DSL”) in India, the third-largest crop protection market in Asia. Previously, in March 2011, Arysta LifeScience had acquired a majority interest in DSL (AgroNews 2011-03-16). As a result of their combined efforts, Arysta LifeScience has just launched ORTHENE® (acephate) insecticide in India, with plans to bring other proprietary products to the Indian market soon.

ORTHENE, which can be tank mixed with other insecticide and fungicides, is used in a wide range of crops to control sucking pests including aphids, jassids and white flies. It also protects against viral diseases that are transmitted through sucking pests. ORTHENE is formulated and packed at the Arysta LifeScience plant in Kalol, India.

"DSL’s professional skills and expansive distribution network are accelerating the registration and introduction of our proprietary products and technologies to the Indian market,” said Soo Keong Tan, Arysta LifeScience Business Unit Head, South Asia & China. “With the launch of ORTHENE, growers benefit from the wide spectrum of control, quick action, and especially the product’s efficacy on stem borers, leaf folder and hoppers in rice, as well as bollworm and jassids in cotton. In addition, other proprietary products, such as our plant nutrients and herbicides, including SELECT®, EVEREST®, and DINAMIC®, are in various stages of registration, development and evaluation for the Indian market. We expect the synergy across products to drive rapid business growth.”
