Crystal Group acquires Rohini Seedsqrcode

Delhi based plant nutrient manufacturer - Crystal Crop Protection Private Limited has acquired Rohini Seeds Private Limited. The financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

With this acquisition, Crystal has now an entire range of products and infrastructure including several commercial and hybrid seeds of various crops, state-of-the-art seed processing plants, seed lab, research farms and extensive R andD and breeding programmes.

According to Ankur Agarwal, MD of Crystal Group, this is a strategic step forward to step up Crystal's presence in the entire input value chain for the farmers.

Established in 2001 by Devendar, Rohini Seeds is a research based seed company. It has expanded from 9 districts on AP with 12 distributors & 220 dealers / retailers to six states. It sells its products under 'Rohini' brand.

The company has strategic tie ups with SWAGAT Biotechnologies Pvt Ltd and Kaveri Seeds pvt Ltd.

According to company’s website it has reached a turnover of around R15.10Cr by 2009-10.

Crystal Crop Protection (erstwhile-Crystal Phosphates) was founded by Nand Kishore Agarwal in 1983. It makes insecticides, herbicides, plant growth regulators and micronutrients. It also makes agri equipments inculding spray pumps.

Recently in November 2011, Everstone Capital acquired a minority stake in Crystal Crop Protection for R150Cr. The funds will be used for exploring inorganic growth opportunities in India and abroad.
