Bayer CropScience is pleased to announce the registration of its pre-emergent herbicide Sakura®, in good time for the 2012 season.

"Australia is the first country in the world to bring Sakura to market,” Bayer CropScience Managing Director Joerg Ellmanns said.

Bayer CropScience will launch the Sakura road show to an audience of agronomists and consultants in Melbourne this afternoon.

The event will mark the first of a series of Australia-wide seminars.

Sakura, based on the active ingredient pyroxasulfone, has demonstrated up to 97% control of populations of annual ryegrass resistant to Group A, B and D herbicides.

At the seminar Mr Ellmanns will present on the technology behind the product.

"This is a fantastic opportunity to collaborate with agronomists and consultants to ensure they are well-equipped to educate growers about Sakura,” Mr Ellmanns said.

In addition to Mr Ellmanns’ presentation, a Q & A panel will be hosted by Senior Development Specialists Mike Rouch and Norm Stone, Technical Advisors Alistair Crawford and Rob Griffiths and Product Manager Craig Pensini.

The panel will give agronomists the opportunity to ask questions about the product, providing a forum for discussion around performance features, application, weed control, herbicide resistance management strategies and more.
