The Institute of Plant Protection of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences held the Fungal Chitin Modified Inhibitor Workshop and Industrialization Signing Ceremony in Beijing on September 3.

On the occasion, Beijing Green Agricultural Science and Technology Group, which played an important role in the historic research program and will industrialize the research achievement, was delegated the rights to industrialize the fungal chitin. Beijing Green Agricultural Science and Technology Group is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Institute of Plant Protection of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. 


The industrialization of the targeted fungal chitin-modified inhibitor results from years of meticulous research by Professor Yang Qing’s the work team from the Institute of Plant Protection at the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. 


The work team has made a significant breakthrough in biosynthesis, bio-assembly, degradation, and mechanism of modification of chitin for the prevention and control of major agricultural insect pests and diseases. This is a theoretical breakthrough in agricultural pest control in China, which opens a new page in the industrial application of pesticides and new mechanisms of action.


As a platform for industrializing the Institute of Plant Protection’s research achievement, Beijing Green Agricultural Science and Technology Group will fully use its research and industrialization dual strength to carry out product research and development, product registration, and efficacy verification of pesticides of a new mechanism of action, to transform theoretical innovation into a new productive force to truly serve agricultural production and green development. 


As the world’s first creative biopesticide based on the biological process of chitin, this inhibitor is not only a complete theory-to-practice research achievement in pesticide development but also sets a new standard for the green development of the Chinese pesticide industry.


The source of the industrialization of the research achievement comes from basic research and technological innovation, while the delegation of industrialization exhibits the entire path from basic theoretical breakthrough up to research achievement and the industrialization of the achievement. As supported by the research strength of the Institute of Plant Protection of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Beijing Green Agricultural Science and Technology Group is prepared to take the opportunity of industrialization to continue its effort in research and development to continuously promote technological innovation and industrial upgrading in the field of pesticides, to make more contributions to the sustainable development of the global agriculture.
