Strategic partnership formed between Bayer and Hailir for intensified collaboration in multiple aspects

Bayer CropScience and Hailir Pesticides and Chemicals Group executed a cooperative agreement on October 18, 2023, whereby the two parties announced the formation of a full-scale strategic partnership.

This partnership would promote resource complementarity at home and abroad via intensified cooperation in pesticide technical development, creative compound development, joint product registration, pesticide formula development, contracted production, and formulations exclusive agency. 

The cooperation is expected to bring more diversified product choices to Chinese growers, facilitating China’s local innovation and Chinese agricultural modernization.

Association between strong enterprises to continuously fulfill diversified market need

On the signing day, Bayer CropScience and Hailir held a grand ceremony at the Bayer Beijing Office for the formation of the strategic partnership, as participated by top management of Bayer led by Hu Mengying, COO of Bayer CropScience Greater China, together with the top management of Hailir led by Ge Yaolun, Honorary Chairman of Hailir Group. Both sides also had in-depth exchanges and discussions at the event on the ever-changing Chinese agricultural market and the technological innovation trend.

A new chapter in cooperation is written with complementary advantages

Alfonso Alba, President of Bayer CropScience Greater China, delivered a speech saying that Bayer’s future success lies in long-term and win-win cooperation with excellent partners like Hailir. He expressed the wish to extend such cooperation in China to the global market, which will further increase the value of innovation.

Hu Mengying, COO of Bayer CropScience Greater China, says that Bayer CropScience is rooted deep down in the Chinese agricultural market to serve the vast number of farmers in China. In recent years, the demand for innovative technologies from Chinese agricultural production has grown continuously, including farmer’s increasingly diversified needs for crop protection products. The close collaboration between Bayer and Hailir is believed to deepen the understanding between the two sides further to create an advantage of resource complementarity, bringing about more market opportunities. 

Ge Jiacheng, Chairman and President of Hailir Pesticides and Chemicals Group, and the chief of each relevant department of Hailir, gave a briefing of Hailir’s company overview, business layout, R&D strength, and the promising prospect for cooperation with Bayer. 

He said that becoming a global agrochemical industry leader is Hailir’s corporate vision. Hailir attaches foremost importance to the customer-first philosophy, research, and innovation practices, while focusing on bringing value to partners to grow together with partners. The formation of the strategic partnership between Bayer and Hailir is a new chapter in cooperation between the two sides, which brings shared prosperity and win-win achievement toward realizing a ″community of shared future.″

Driven by innovation, the cooperative ″ecosystem″ in China continues to grow

Bayer has been constantly expanding and deepening its cooperation with local industry partners, striving to build a superior supply capacity of a diversified product range. Through the strategic cooperation with Hailir, Bayer will be able to further expand its innovative product line and mid-range product line with super quality and competitive prices, which will help reduce cost and increase efficiency in China’s agricultural production, thus assisting growers to achieve both the environmental benefit and economic benefit, which are referred to as ″dual harvesting.″ 

Besides the exclusive agency and other marketing-oriented cooperation, the cooperation between the two parties in pesticide technical development and creative compound research and development, product registration, formula development, and contracted production is a full demonstration of Bayer CropScience’s determination and confidence in the market operation in the Chinese market. All the measures of cooperation will lay a better foundation for Bayer to strengthen cooperation with local innovative enterprises and to continue to supply differentiated and valuable solutions to distributors and farmers. To this end, Bayer has established its basic business pattern where Bayer’s global patented compound is brought into joint innovation and development with a local third-party partner.
