Fluazifop-P and two other ais added to 1107/2009 annex

The European commission has started adding three ais to the EU agrochemical registration Regulation (1107/2009). They comprise: Syngenta’s herbicide, fluazifop-P; two plant growth regulators, 1-naphthylacetamide (1-NAD) and 1-naphthylacetic acid (1-NAA) from a tripartite task force from Nufarm, Amvac and Italian company L Gobbi.

For fluazifop-P, Member States shall pay particular attention to: the potential contamination of groundwater by metabolite fluroxypyr pyridinol, when the active substance is applied in regions with alkaline or vulnerable soil and/or with vulnerable climatic conditions; the protection of surface water and groundwater in vulnerable zones; the risk for non-target plants and conditions of use shall include risk mitigation measures, where appropriate. The applicant shall submit confirmatory information as regards: the specification of the technical material, as commercially manufactured, including information on the relevance of the impurity R154719 and the equivalence between the specifications of the technical material, as commercially manufactured, and the specifications of the test material used in the toxicity studies by 30 June. And information regarding: the potential long-term risk to herbivorous mammals; the fate and behaviour in the environment of the metabolite compounds 5-(trifluoromethyl)-2(1H)-pyridinone and 5-(trifluoromethyl)-2(1H)-pyridinone; the potential risk to fish and aquatic invertebrates for the metabolite compound IV shall be submit by 31 December.
